1964.5 Ford Mustang Convertible D-Code 289 4-Speed for sale on BaT Auctions – ending July 15 (Lot #200,429)

This 1964.5 Ford Mustang was built in April 1964 as a D-code 289 convertible with Cascade Green paintwork, a Palomino interior, a four-speed manual transmission, and a 3.00 limited-slip differential. The car was the subject of a restoration that began in the 1980s but went unfinished before it was acquired from its owner of three decades in 2020 by the seller. The work was subsequently completed in 2025, with a respray of the exterior, a replacement soft top, a redone interior, a rebuild of the engine, a GT-style dual exhaust system, an overhauled suspension, refreshed brakes, and 14″ wheel covers with simulated knock-offs. This Mustang is now offered with a clean Wyoming title in the seller’s name.

The car was delivered from the factory in Cascade Green according to the reproduction warranty plate. The seller notes the quarter panels and floors had been replaced by a previous owner, and the door skins were replaced as part of the seller’s work. The seller tells us the car was mounted on a rotisserie and refinished, and it has a replacement tan soft top that is power-retractable with a replacement pump, cylinders, and lines. The dual exhaust system exits through the rear valance, and the gas cap was also replaced along with lights and lenses.

The 14″ steel wheels wear faux knock-off covers and are mounted with 195/75 Vercelli tires. Braking is handled by front and rear drums. The seller tells us a refresh of the brakes involved replacing the master cylinder, lines, and wheel bearings, while the suspension was overhauled with replacement springs, shackles, control arms, links, torsion bars, bushings, and hardware.
